We've just finished our first breakfast in our beautiful Beijing hotel. The huskies are sleeping, the birds are tweeting and we're getting ourselves ready for a day of exploring.
Once again the weather is very much like being in an airing cupboard, hot but not too sticky and completely overcast, it's like living in a Tupperware box.
Yesterday we ended up doing far more than we expected. We explored the nearby lake where locals were taking a swim, everyone wanted to give us a massage and rickshaws were a plenty. We climbed up the Drum Tower, an incredibly old Chinese Tower, that used to be used to play these huge drums to signal the time. We stayed for a drum performance and it was quite jaw dropping and very loud. Then we went to an amazing park area in front of the palace. Full of temple buildings and with cracking views over the palace and city. The views though were really ruined by the fog, but that kind of adds to Beijing's beauty in my opinion.
