Hello, how are you?!
We've arrived in China and on first impressions it is definitely one of the most foreign places we have been to... though walking past Duncan from Blue at the airport in Beijing was an unlikely reminder of home!
The 10 hour flight over was good, no screaming kids, the food wasn't bad (for airplane food) and the films were ok. All went smoothly getting here too, however our taxi driver (who didnt speak a word of english) couldn't find the hotel so instead he marched us to the front door when he eventually realised is was up a one way street.
We've settled in to our hotel in Beijing - the bed beckons because neither of us slept on the plane, but we're going to see the day through and go explore. The hotel is a lovely treat which we received as a wedding present, so thank you to the James's Its a traditional courtyard hotel where the most important people stay in the biggest rooms, we've got all the modcons including wifi so are starting our travels in luxury. We are staying down a typical Chinese street - the type you see in the films - and there are 2 huskies running round the place. It's all a bit surreal!

Looks fantastic. We're glad you arrived, that doesn't look like 36 degrees?
