So yesterday was another great day in China; we took in our first temple of the trip, the Lama temple - and no, there are no four legged spitting animals walking about! It is apparently the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet, and it was huge- one temple after another with several Bhudda statues in each and many Chinese people burning incense, paying homage to Bhudda. But apparently still one of the smallest in Beijing. There's a 18m tall Bhudda there that was carved out of a single tree!
We then visited the Bird's Nest (Olympic stadium for 2008) which was an incredible sight - and because it is still foggy here, we couldn't see the end of the park it was so vast. And randomly there was a Segway course on the part of the track where Usain Bolt broke the world record. We went out first tube ride - apart from the price (20p a ticket) and the cleanliness, it wasn't too dissimilar to the London tube, ie crowded and with hoards of people all going in the same direction.
To finish off the day, we spent a couple of hours wandering the Hutongs - small packed streets with lots of food and random shops. We ate some strange egg puffs with chocolate to keep us going.
In the evening, we were taken out to dinner and drinks by friends of friends - and we were almost duped in to believing that the Chinese government control the weather! Oli, if you read this, we do need to see the evidence, from a legit source please!
Dinner was traditional (ish) Chinese food - duck (for Dan) and tofu (for Fiz), plus some chocolate flavoured bitter in a big 3L food blender type dispenser; we should definitely have these in England!

And how is your Chinese coming on?
