We have had our fair share of journeys and modes of transport so far, and I'm sure many more are still to come. The night trains in China have definitely been the most memorable (for good and bad reasons) Bizarrely though we found our selves kinda missing those communal 15 hour journeys. So we decided to try the Vietnam night train, and this is when the famous last words were said, 'well it can't be any worse than the China train'. To cut the story short...it was. Our bed sheets were used, the train was grimy and little sleep was had due to a neighbour snorer. There is nothing worse than getting no sleep due to someone else sleeping so well.
Anyway when we eventually reached our destination Hoi An, after checking in we went straight back to bed.
Hoi An is a UNESCO site and is an exceptionally pretty place. It was once a port full of Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese and therefore has a mix of little buildings and windy streets that are all lit up with lanterns. These days it's famous for its handicrafts and tailoring, so I had a little dress knocked up (the blue one in the photo) After exploring the sites and watching a little Vietnamese performance we were still knackered so headed in for an early night.
The next day we adventured around the town of Hoi An on bicycles. We cycled all the way to the nearby beaches passed rice paddy fields and friendly villagers shouting 'helllloooo' as we went passed.
Our time is up in this place that time has stood still so we move on today (Monday the 3rd) to Phong Nga Farm stay which is in the middle of national park (and another Unesco site) Alas never ones to be put off we will be catching the train again today to get there...

Nice dress.
